OVERVIEW
                                                                    NEXT YEAR IN HAVANA...

Every New Year since the early 1960's... "Next Year in Havana" was the heart felt cry of the Cuban Exiles who arrived in Miami, Fl.  They dreamed of returning to Cuba by the following New Year...thinking the Political atmosphere would be better.   Today...52 years later...that cry is a just faint memory like those of Cuba which will not go away.  However, like most Cubans they still hang on to those intense nostalgic memories they had formed of the Cuba they once knew.  Today they can only dream of returning to Cuba to live out those nostalgic  memories.

I have been traveling to Cuba since 1996.  For some people...I included...once you leave Cuba... it becomes very difficult to let go of the memories you now have...some people get what they call "Cubinitis"... a chronic form of nostolgia.  My last trip was in 2005.   Since working on my "90 MILES TO HAVANA" project in Little Havana, Fl, I have recently developed my own nostalgic memories of  Cuba.   Certain images that I made in Little Havana evoked these memories...some of which I thought were forgotten.  This group of images resonate within me.  There is no narrative or sequential story telling here that will jump out...but what are here are individual images from the streets of Little Havana reminding me of slices of life that I saw and felt in Havana.  They reminded me of the memories I have/had of unanswered questions from the past/present or maybe from "Next Year in Havana".
